Reflecting on Adnodd’s first year
With Christmas around the corner, it's astonishing to look back at the significant development of Adnodd over the last 12 months. 2024 has been a transformative year for us, marked by continuous progress and achievements. It’s a fantastic feeling to know that we have built strong foundations and a real sense of momentum as we look forward to 2025 and the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Laying the foundations
The year began with designing our organisation. In the spring, we focused on establishing our corporate services, building our commissioning model and identifying priorities and opportunities for early commissioning activity. This early foundational work ensured we had the necessary structures and processes in place to start delivering our mission to enrich the learners’ experiences of the Curriculum for Wales.
Building our Team
Over the summer, we focused on recruitment. We sought out talented individuals who shared our vision and commitment to enhancing education in Wales. In September, we welcomed an exceptional team of bilingual staff who have hit the ground running. Their enthusiasm and expertise are already helping us to make excellent progress towards our goals.
Commissioning Resources
With our team in place, we moved quickly to commission our first rounds of resources. These resources are aligned to policy priorities and known areas of need. While we develop our strategic vision and plans, our focus this year has been on testing our commissioning method to target resources that will be published within the current academic year. New resources will include:
- Online and blended resources to support the new GCSEs starting in 2025.
- New and updated resources to support Welsh reading and literacy, for English and Welsh medium settings.
- Curriculum resources linked to forthcoming television programmes.
- Updates and expansions of apps and interactive resources to support literacy and numeracy.
- Welsh-medium digital resources to support teaching of international languages in primary schools.
Discovering Our Community
We are a listening and learning organisation, responsive to the needs and feedback of those we serve. We believe the best outcomes are achieved by working together. This year, we have been actively speaking and listening to policy-makers, educators, learners, parents and carers, content creators and providers, and strategic partners. Next year, we want to involve and hear from more people as we develop our longer-term vision, goals and plans.
Sharing our progress
We are committed to working openly, sharing our thinking and plans, and to evaluating and improving how we do things. To learn more about what we have achieved this year and our ideas for the future, take a look at our first annual progress report on our website.
Be part of our journey

We want to involve as many people as possible in our work. We invite you to join our community to learn more about how you can be part of the conversation to help shape our approach and plans.
Looking ahead
We’ve made an amazing start this year, and 2025 promises to be even better. Over coming months, we will grow our engagement with educators, learners, their families and communities, work with researchers to map user journeys, develop our longer-term strategy and plans, trial new ways of commissioning and quality assuring resources, and strengthen our strategic partnerships.
We look forward to achieving even more together in the coming year.
