Adnodd’s journey of collaboration across Wales
Since September 2024, Adnodd's Commissioning and Quality team have been on a journey of collaborating across Wales’ education sector.
As a young organisation we are on our way to becoming the leading organisation dedicated to providing high-quality educational resources to support the Curriculum for Wales.
To be successful we need to work with, and listen to partners across Wales. These include educators, practitioners, learners, their families, and suppliers (meaning those who do or may create educational resources).
Through a series of insightful and engaging sessions our team has brought together around 40 different suppliers and practitioners during our first few months. These have been essential to sharing ideas and informing our approach to commissioning.
Recent highlights include two in-person sessions. One was with the network of late immersion Welsh language teachers, and another with 3rd year BA (Hons) Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status students at Bangor University.
These workshops provided valuable insights into the needs and challenges facing educators, allowing us to identify gaps and tailor our commissioning work to better support their work and learners’ needs.
What we’ve learned
We asked the late immersion teachers to identify gaps in educational resources for their learners, and to then vote on priorities. The top three were resources that are:
- Digital or print books
- Appropriate to the age and stage of learning
- Relevant to the language continuum

The students at Bangor were eager to work with Adnodd and shared valuable feedback on existing resources to support their pedagogic practices. Alongside the suppliers’ own quality assurance processes, this group has also played a key part of Adnodd’s Quality Assurance process, carrying out important user testing of draft resources currently in development from our commissioned suppliers Atebol , Peniarth and Tinint.
Students provided useful feedback to our suppliers, working together to enhance educational resources and practices.
Collaborating with the sector
Alongside these engagement sessions, we have also commissioned several research projects and are working in partnership with the Hwb team and Miller Research on improvements to the platform. These conversations and findings are vital as we embark on a process to identify and inform our strategic priorities for the coming years.
Additionally, our meetings with suppliers have opened new avenues for collaboration, enabling us to expand and update current educational resources, ensuring they support the Curriculum for Wales. The partnerships with creative companies and suppliers are crucial in our mission to provide resources that enhance learning outcomes and inspire a life-long love of learning.
Adnodd is committed to working collaboratively, to listen and learn, and to trial new approaches to commissioning. We look forward to continuing this journey, working closely with suppliers, educators, practitioners, learners and their families and communities.
