Resources to inspire reading
As part of the National Year of Reading, we are celebrating all the literacy resources, and great books, that we have commissioned.
We know that developing strong literacy skills are central to education, and we have done our utmost to inspire confident and curious readers.
From multimedia platforms to national research projects, from the distribution of thousands of free books to innovative initiatives, Adnodd has commissioned a wide range of resources to support reading skills among children and young people.
These include the publication and distribution of over 1,400 bilingual resources which are now available free of charge to all schools in Wales. We have also given over 67,091 books as gifts to schools and families, including 49,706 brand new Welsh and English books through the Rhyngom project and 11,880 baby and early years books.
Here’s a taste of some of our projects that support reading and literacy:
Supporting a new platform for schools to buy books from Wales
Thanks to Adnodd funding, every school in Wales will have an account on ffolio.cymru, along with a credit of £50 each to spend on books on the Welsh Books Council’s new platform.
Schools in Wales receive thousands of free books through Rhyngom project
Schools across Wales will receive 49,000 free books in the final phase of the Rhyngom project, which is supported by Adnodd.
